Found in Kitsap – screened in Williamsburg

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

hello friends. sorry I missed last week…it’s been a crazy last couple of weeks.

first off, I’m happy to announce that a draft of FOUND IN KITSAP has been completed!!! not only that, but the project has been formatted and printed and is ready for the first round of readers. needless to say, I’m pretty excited.

after several years of collecting cameras last January was my “cap” on collecting cameras. while I might find more rolls of film in the future – it was important to begin the “fishing” part of “fish or cut bait.” so I stopped searching and developed the film that had been found. for the next few months I spent time getting to know the photos. I didn’t know what stories I was going to tell, but I felt that if I spent enough time with the photos – the stories would come to me.

and they did. after taking notes, putting the photos into an order, reorganizing, and making more notes I was finally ready to begin the actually writing. during the last couple months I’ve been busy writing and editing the stories. after that was finished I formated the document so that it would look like a “real” book. now I’ve got both digital and physical copies that are ready to be handed out. definitely looking forward to sharing more about the project as things progress.

in CERTIFIED news…last weekend I travelled to New York City for the Williamsburg Independent Film Festival.

I have to say, New York in the fall is something really incredible. it was oddly exciting to get to wear a heavy jacket and a scarf. I know this sounds silly, but the warm weather in LA can be a bit of a drag…heh. anyhoo.

it was a great trip. I was able to see a bunch of fun films, I met some great people, and I got to spend some quality time with Troy and Daisy. plus go to the MET and see an AMAZING exhibit of the work of American painter George Bellows. don’t worry…I’m going to tell you all about it next week.

in the meantime, here are some pictures from the trip.

one afternoon we visited this very, very cool installation in Columbus Circle called “Discovering Columbus.’ the artist, Tatzu Nishi built a 5 story high “living room” around the statue so you could be at eye level with it. it’s a view of the monument that no one ever gets to see and it was quite a treat to behold. here is the official site which talks a bit more about this and his other work.

the my new iPhone does panoramic photos. which works out well for capturing nice Brooklyn sunsets.

okay, that’s about it for today. I wanted to leave you with this music video from the festival. some of you may know that when I first moved to Los Angeles I did a fair amount of “background acting” in films, tv shows, and commercials… this video does a great job showing the humor of that sort of work.

hope you all have a blessed holiday!
